What Orlando homeowners ask us about indoor air quality.
Between 45% and 55%. Above 60% you get mould and dust mites; below 40% is uncomfortable and hard on wood floors and furniture. A $15 hygrometer will tell you where you actually are — most Orlando homes are surprised.
If your home stays above 60% RH even when the AC is keeping up, yes. It is very common in newer, tighter Orlando construction and in homes with an oversized system. It is not something everyone needs, and we will say so if you do not.
For coil and drain-pan biological growth, yes — that is a real, well-evidenced use and it is what we install it for. Claims about whole-house air sterilisation from an in-duct lamp are oversold; we do not make them.
A 1" filter every 30 days, monthly without exception if you have pets. A 4" media filter every 6 to 12 months. A restricted filter is the most common cause of frozen coils we see.
